This law will prevent plastic packaging from including the chasing arrow symbol if the material does not meet a recycling rate of 60% by 2025.

Exporting mixed plastic scrap will no longer count as waste reduction.

Restaurants can no longer give out single use utensils or straws unless requested.

This initiative will be voted on in the general election on 11/8/22. Californians will vote if they are for or against plastic waste reduction.

The initiative, if passed, will require CalRecycle to adopt regulations to reduce the use of plastic packaging. One way of doing this would be through recycled content. Additionally, a maximum one-cent per item fee will be placed on single use plastic.
